10 Things You Might Not Know About NCIS Star Mark Harmon

ONE: Mark  was the voice of logger Bob Markham in Disney’s The Legend of Tarzan animated TV series.  

TWO: Mark has broken his shoulder twice. Ouch!  

THREE: Mark uses a 1972 Airstream trailer that he restored himself, and uses it as his dressing room.

FOUR: Before his TV and movie success, he worked as roofer and briefly as a sales representative for Adidas sneakers.  

FIVE; Mark runs his own charity sports team The Bombers, most of whom are former UCLA football teammates of Mark.  This year (2010), Mark Harmon and his Bombers returned to Oklahoma for their 10th annual Stars and Strikes Celebrity Weekend. The event, which has raised $2.5 million over the years, will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oklahoma City and the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic.

SIX: Mark Harmon is a keen sportsman and was a starting quarterback for UCLA in 1972 and 1973.  

SEVEN:  In typical Gibbs style he bravely helped rescue two teenage boys trapped in a burning car near his home in 1996. Using a sledgehammer from his garage.   

EIGHT: One of his first national TV appearances was with his father Tom Harmon, in a commercial for Kellogg’s Product 19 cereal.  

NINE: Before Mark became  the huge TV star he is today,he spent many years  playing supporting guest roles on  television shows such as Police Woman,Laverne and Shirley and The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Mysteries.  

TEN: One of the reasons Gibbs looks so convincing working on his boat, is because. Mark worked as a carpenter before he found TV stardom.
